This app exists because too many people study Mandarin for years and still cannot use it with a real person.
They can read a menu. They have passed a test. Then a stranger turns around and says hi, and nothing comes out. It is not a vocabulary problem — nobody ever taught them what to say in that first minute.
So we built the shortest useful path from studying Mandarin to actually talking to someone: the phrases people here really say, including the ones you only ever need to recognise — the polite refusal that sounds like a yes, the small line that turns one good evening into a second one.
Every phrase was chosen by a native speaker, one at a time. If we would not actually say it, it did not make it in.
It does not replace anything. Keep your class, your textbook, your teacher — nothing here works against them. And if you want to practise with an AI app later, good. You will finally have something of your own to bring to it.
